North Finley Firehouse Road, N Finley Firehouse Rd, Indiana, USA map
TMD Stage: Story Century. 103 miles. https://ridewithgps.com/routes/42749731 Ride start at Finley Firehouse. From Louisville take I-65 North to the Scottsburg exit (29). Go left (west) off the exit. In 3 miles, turn right on Finley Firehouse Road and park behind the fire department being sure NOT to block the doors. Spill over parking has never been needed but is available caddy corner to the Firehouse at the white abandoned building.
Warning. Lunch will take some time and will cost more than McDonalds. https://storyinn.com/ We usually eat from the grill outside which has a limited menu. The first part of this ride is flat, but don't let it fool you. The climbing is almost all in the middle. It is a very doable century but not necessarily an easy century. One road is closed due to partially sliding down a hill. You will need to dismount, skirt the barriers, and get back on your bike. About an 1/8 of a mile. Those who have ridden it in the past four or five years have done this. The ride will be swept down to 12 mph. RC: Melissa "Puddle" Hall, lissah45@yahoo.com (eight12) seven52-3973. Feel free to email with questions. Cancellations would be announced on the LBC website.
At 22.7 you will pass the restored Shields Covered bridge on your right. Feel free to go through the bridge, but you will need to hang a left after to get back on course. (From Wikapedia) Shields' MillCovered Bridge, also known as Shieldstown Covered Bridge,is a historic coveredbridge located in BrownstownTownship and HamiltonTownship, JacksonCounty, Indiana. It spans the WhiteRiver and is a multiple kingpost BurrArch Truss bridge. It was built 1876, and is a two-span wooden bridge resting on cut limestone pier and abutments. It measures 365 feet, 6 inches, long. The bridge was closed to traffic in 1970.[2]: 4–5
It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2016.[1]The bridge was restored in 2019.[3]
The GPS file was redone due to road closures in Brownstown. Hopefully there have been no changes since I was up there.
I am changing the first store stop to Dollar General due to the wider selection and due to an open bathroom. It will be on your cue sheet and is mile 32.9. There is no entrance off of 58 so yo u will need to enter off 135 and then back track about 100 feet or so. There remains the option of Denny's a bit up the road on 58 (also will be on the cue sheet) but be aware there is no bathroom and fewer food/drink options.
At about 38.7 miles, you will reach a road that is closed. The first barrier has been reduced to one side of the road, but the barrier at the top remains in place and the surface between the areas is uneven in places. You will have to walk through the upper barrier. Perhaps Danny McCaskill could ride over the barrier, but I doubt you can so please don't try.
The third store stop is in Brownstown at Dairy Queen at 82.3 but if you would rather not have ice cream, there is a gas station next door to DQ and also a gas station across the street.
Please check for any changes on the website. Areas of this course flood if there is heavy rain and I will be doing some additional checks closer to the date. Hope to see everyone. For those not on the mailing list who would like to see a sample brunch menu, please email me and I will be happy to forward it to you.
Please note that the route has changed just a bit due to construction in Brownstown. Oh, and I forgot to mention that Story is allegedly haunted. https://fox59.com/news/indys-most-haunted-blue-lady-haunts-the-story-inn-in-brown-county/

Starting Location: SMWC at US-150 and St. Marys Rd., Terre Haute, Indiana
Event Details: RAIN is a one-day bicycle ride across Indiana. The 160-mile course runs mostly on the Historic National Road (US 40), an older, divided four-lane road with light traffic and gentle rolling hills. The ride begins on the campus of Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College (SMWC) in West Terre Haute, Indiana, and crosses the state to Earlham College in Richmond, Indiana. You should condition yourself for this ride, limit your time off the bike during the ride, and be able to maintain a rolling average at least 14 mph for 12 hours.
Ride Overview: Signage and roadway markings clearly mark the route. In addition to the signs, a painted raindrop on the pavement containing an “R” indicates a turn with the narrow “point” of the drop.
The 2023 RAIN route maps and cue sheets are found here. GPS route files are found here, where the route may be downloaded in a variety of bike computer GPS formats. There are several areas of road construction along the RAIN route this year, so please use caution when you ride through them.
Two construction areas require detours. Just before rest stop 3 at Franklin Township school, a portion of Edgewood Drive is closed to all traffic—see the map here for details on the detour. At Centerville a bridge is being repaired, and a detour from the normal route is required—see the map found here for details on the detour.
If you have a personal support vehicle (PSV) assisting you, it is your responsibility to ensure your support crew reads and follows the PSV Guide and drives only on the PSV route.

Starting Location: Norton Cancer Institute - Brownsboro - 4955 Norton Healthcare Blvd, Louisville, KY 40241
Choose from 15, 35, 65 or 100 miles! We have an option to fit your activity level. To help you choose, think about it this way: A leisurely bike ride is about 10-15 miles per hour. Could you ride for one hour? Two hours? Three hours? More?
Keep in mind that relief is only 15 miles away. Our pit stops are spaced about 15 miles apart, where you can park, stretch your legs, use the restroom and get something to eat or drink.
Finally, remember you should enjoy yourself — but challenge yourself. You are doing this for those who cannot. You are taking on the challenge in solidarity with those who are fighting the biggest fight of their lives.
Choose your distance
Never cycled before? We recommend the 5-mile or 15-mile option.
Cycled some, but it’s been a while? Try the 15- or 35-mile option. These are great distances for active beginners to novice riders.
Frequent cycler? The 65-mile ride is for you. This longer distance can be rewarding for people who cycle regularly or enjoy fitness.
Avid cyclist? Go for 100 miles and become a century rider! You won’t regret the feeling of accomplishment, knowing you are making a difference for children and adults fighting cancer in our community!
Registration Fee: 5-mile rider registration is $10. 15-, 35-, 65-, and 100-mile rider registration is $50. Cancer survivors ride for free. Click here for more details on the minimum fundraising requirements.
