“Battle for Wendell Moore” Race
November 25, 2001

It was a great day for 'cross as the locals plus people from Indy, Lexington, Cincy and Dayton teed it up in a fierce battle for local pride and glory. Participants included the usual local suspects, a national champion, battered masters, future star juniors and our local top woman! The battle for Wendell Moore was on! The usual sandbagging got us started properly with everyone making claims of illness, no fitness or "just racing for fun" then going on to stellar performances. The Wunderlich-designed course was generously and graciously described as "technical" and a course for the fit. In reality the course was an evil bike and body snarlying challenge with pretty rolling hills, nasty headwind sections, a technical creek crossing, lung burning climb and the infamous downhill barrier. In other words - the perfect 'cross course!

Thanks to all participants, sponsors, volunteers and spectators! If you weren't there and are regretting it, join us this Sunday at Wendell Moore Park in Oldham County as the local 'Cross Wars continue!
