    President

Andrew Murphy:  Another year has passed and I want to thank you all for your continued support.  We have made great progress the past few years and I’d like to ask for your support to continue this progress.  I’ll do my best to continue to represent the Louisville Bicycle Club with integrity.  Let’s keep pedaling!  Thank you again for your support!

    Secretary

Bekki Livingston:  I have completed one year as club secretary (2015) and am willing to continue for another year if re-elected.  I learned a great deal about our club this year and appreciate all the volunteer hours from so many of you that go into running and maintaining such a diverse and successful club.  I would appreciate your support for another year.

    Treasurer

Mark Rougeux:  I am willing to continue as treasurer of the club.

    VP Advocacy

Doug Brent:  I am happy to continue.

    VP Communications

David Ryan (PaCkMaN): As the current longest continually serving member of the Executive Committee, I thank you for your past support and ask you to return me for a 10th year.  I appreciate your confidence in my representation of your cycling interests on the board over the past 9 years.

    VP Education

David Wittry: I am writing to indicate my intention to run for the position of VP of Education. It is my desire to continue to teach the Bike Handling Classes and to continue to try to improve our outreach.

    VP Racing

Kevin Williams:  I‘m a graphic designer and have lived in Louisville my entire life.  I’ve been riding and racing since the 80’s but have only been active in the LBC since 2002 and racing with Team Louisville since 2005 – minus a couple of years racing with Twinspires.  I will be glad to continue as VP Racing for the 2016 season.

    VP Touring

Steve Rice:  I respectfully submit my candidacy for Vice President of Touring.  2015 was my second year as Vice President of Touring and I would like to continue in that role for 2016. I believe that the Louisville Bicycle Club should be very proud of the size and diversity of its touring schedule, and I hope to see it continue to grow in the future for all of our members, not only for beginners but also for the short and medium distance aficionados, as well as for veteran long distance cyclists and racers who compete on and off road.  Our club has one of the most prolific touring schedules in the United States year round, and my hope is that we can continue this great legacy for all LBC members to participate in for years to come.  Thank you for your consideration.

The Louisville Bicycle Club is always in need of Ride Captains.   So if you think that you would like to help the club by becoming a Ride Captain.  Now is the time to make that plunge.   On March 17th after the 4 pm General Membership Meeting (Baptist East/Milestone Fitness Center (

750 Cypress Station Dr. ),  I will once again offer a Ride Captain Training Program.  This program will give you all of the basic information that you will need to become a ride captain.  So come on out.  Look for more information on the March Touring Schedule.  If you Ride Captain 10 or more rides in a Touring Year, you are eligible to receive a Ride Captain’s Jersey.

Old Kentucky Home Tour Sponsor Clarksville Schwinn & Fitness donated a CANNONDALE CAAD 10 road bicycle to the 2012 OKHT.  The winner, drawn Saturday at OKHT-Fest on the lawn at Spalding Hall, was Sarah Wilding of Frankfort, KY.  Congratulations, Sarah!  This bike was raffled off by the American Red Cross, with 100% of the proceeds going to the Red Cross.  Approximately 3600 chances were sold on the bike, an increase of 300 over the 2011 raffle!

We would like to thank Clarksville Schwinn & Fitness for their generosity, the American Red Cross for their good works and most importantly, we'd like to thank everyone who bought a chance on this bike!

    THANK YOU!

The Kentucky Brevet Series concluded this past weekend with the 600K brevet - the fourth in the series.  We were graced with great weather this year.  We were fortunate that we didn't have anything as bad as the 2011 300K.  35 riders attempted at least one of the 4 brevets with 5 riders completing all 4 and earning Super Randonneur status.  The completion rate was excellent this year (I will attribute this to the great weather).  There was only 1 DNF on each of the brevets and all for different reasons.

I would like to thank Bill Pustow and Susan Howell for helping make these brevets happen.

I look forward to seeing you next year and good luck to those heading to St Louis and Nashville in an effort to complete their SR series!

Volunteer Registration for the 2012 Old Kentucky Home Tour is now open!  To volunteer, go to the Louisville Bicycle Club homepage here; http://www.louisvillebicycleclub.org/  On the menu bar, click on OKHT and then click on Volunteers at the bottom of the dropdown box.  When you get to the Volunteer page, you’ll find a list of volunteer positions at the bottom of the page.  Click on your selection and follow the instructions.  If you want to volunteer for more than one position, you’ll have to register for each position separately.  For your volunteer efforts, each volunteer will receive complimentary OKHT Registration and a commemorative OKHT t-shirt.  Also this year, a new OKHT sponsor, Parkside Bikes, has donated a FUJI Roubaix road bike that will be given to one lucky volunteer!  There is a photo of the bicycle on the volunteer page.  The winner of the bike will be drawn randomly from registered volunteers.  Each volunteer will have one chance in the bicycle drawing.

While you’re registering, make sure you order your Commemorative 35th Annual OKHT jersey.  You can see the jersey and t-shirt designs by clicking on the Souvenirs button in the OKHT dropdown box.  If you want the delicious Chris Cakes Bar-B-Que dinner in Bardstown Saturday evening, you can order that while you are registering.

We would like to thank Parkside Bikes at 1377 Bardstown Road for their support of the 35th Annual Old Kentucky Home Tour.  In addition to Parkside, CLARKSVILLE SCHWINN is back as a Gold Level sponsor and we would like to thank Bob Peters & Co. for their continued support.  Main Street Bikes is also returning as a sponsor--thank you, Tom!

Offering mechanical support for this years’ OKHT; Scheller’s Fitness & Cycling, On Your Left Cycles and Vic’s Classic Cycles.  Hopefully, we’ll be adding more sponsors in the coming weeks.

When you visit any of our sponsors, please thank them for their continued support.

Volunteer early, volunteer often!  Thank you all for your support!

    Life is good

    Murphy
