6:00 pm – 10 Miles #2 Ride To The Ride of Silence. Hogans Fountain to Iroquois Park & return (Lights required Headlight & (2)taillights) reflective - high visibility gear encouraged RC Perry Finley.
6:30 pm – 10 mi. #1. RIDE OF SILENCE- River Road-Waterfront Park- RED LOT, Near Base of the Big 4 Bridge. Join cyclists worldwide in this silent, slow paced ride (12 mph max) in honor of those who have been killed or injured while cycling on public roadways. Short talk at 6:45. Dear all,

I just wanted to clarify that Sunday's ride will begin at the usual 2:00 Sunday ride start, at the office building parking lot on Staebler, NEAR Heine Brothers on Chenoweth/Breckinridge. Please note that it will be a 15-mile ride with a cue sheet for you to follow. So for those of you who have the 2:00 Heine brothers ride route memorized, it may be a little challenging to your brain (and eyes) to follow a cue sheet. I had to make the type fairly small to get it to fit on one page, so bring your reading glasses! It is not an extremely original route.....it has the elements of several rides.

I would rate the route a 2 for most LBC riders, and a 2+ or 3 for newbies. While not flat, there aren't TOO many hills....but there are a few hilly spots for newbies (i.e., Denham, Beargrass, Grinstead/Stiltz).

If you're wanting to do a fast-paced, challenging ride, this may not be the ride for you. This will be for those who want a nice little Sunday ride, yet it may be challenging for any new riders, or slow-pokes (like me).

I'm hoping to encourage new riders to join us, and I'm hoping those who ride will be laid back, ride safely, and enjoy helping newer riders. I'll be sweeping at the back and ride as slow as the slowest rider(s) (probably me).

Upon rechecking the route for this Sunday's Populaire, I discovered one of the bridges is now out (the 44' one-lane bridge is being replaced by a 324' monstrosity). This required a reroute.

There is now approximately 1/2 mile of well-packed gravel road in each direction.

SATURDAY 9 AM YELLOW LOT RIDES IN MAY - PLEASE READ!

Due to a scheduling snafu, the Yellow lot Iriquois special, slow + easy ride did not get on the schedule for May. The rides WILL happen from the yellow lot, at the usual time - 9:00, however no club mileage credit will be given. These rides will be show + go. If you want credit for your Saturday morning ride, I suggest Vickie Dobbs ride out of Thurman-Hutchins Park.

Saturday's (April 28th) Yellow Lot Ride is being moved to Leave out of EP Sawyer Park (Due to Marathon etc).

There are two new rides on tap for this weekend:
If you missed the AIR ride last Saturday, you have another opportunity to do the ride tomorrow morning.

On Sunday, get out those Fat Tires, CX Bikes or MTB's and do the Commisky Gravel Ride. Be sure that you come prepared with hydration pack, water bottles, and food. There are no store stops or support provided.

If those two rides don't interest you, there are plenty of other options to choose from. See the Current Touring Schedule:

New ride captain - 2:00 Heine Ride (April Fool's Day)

Dear all,

If you REALLY want to ride today at 2:00, Perry Finley is now the ride captain for the 2:00 Heine ride.

I drove thru the park, and the normal route is covered in water.....cars were turning around and not even attempting it. I had turned my car around and was headed to Heine Bros so I could get on my computer and cancel the ride, and Perry called to ask about the ride. He volunteered to handle ride captain duties, and is planning on an alternate route.

Looking at the radar, looks like rain is on the way out. However, roads may still be wet and/or flooded.

So be careful!
